And a few hours before the call time, an intensity-3 earthquake hit the country and Tarlac as well. Electricity was cut and some of the team got discouraged.

Who says prayer cannot move mountains?

God can show us even in impossible means just how great and mighty He is. After the team did some troubleshooting using whatever there is at hand… together with much much prayer, just as they were to start, electricity came back! All the videos they prepared for that day were used and everything went on smoothly as planned…

Sometimes, things happen to teach us of certain things… and that day, the team learned to trust more in God instead of accusing or getting mad or quitting. They had their own share of funny stories after the event including how each one was calling the electricity provider asking what time it will be back. The team, and their church was so much in awe of God’s power that day.

That very special day, 13 Christians in the campus, including core group leaders, with 10 Student contacts, plus other young people from San Rafael Gospel Church sat comfortably under a beautiful weather (with no signs of 3 alarming storms that time) and a sumptuous snack served by the partnering church. They saw the great support of their local church and are very thankful for that.

Now the team is busy preparing for their well-reserved retreat… and still meeting each other, preparing for their small groups.

But after all the events have quieted… the team sits and ponder more on the greatness of God and the great presence they felt from Him. These are all activities, but through the process, they learned a lot, they felt like they grew up in a way. They still don’t feel worthy, but they feel privileged to do this for the Lord. Aiming more and striving to work for His glory.

Very clearly, with this event, with how natural disasters almost hindered their faith, and with how the Lord turned the events in their favor… GOD IS THE ONLY ONE THAT COULD MOVE MOUNTAINS…

God is bigger than all those… God is greater than all these things… activities come, people move but the greatest effect is the impact in the hearts and minds, towards renewal and transformation of the students of Tarlac University and the YMC Youth Campus Leaders with their Core group Leaders.
All praises to God alone!

visit the YMC Gallery to see other photos

First Ever! Landlocked, the province booms in terms of agricultural and sugar production.

They have at least 14 Universities or Colleges which proves that students, young people and the campus battlefield is just waiting for God’s people to come and minister.

The youth leaders of the youth ministry of San Rafael Brethren Church have been praying on ways to enhance their Spiritual gifts and others skills. They expressed to us how the leaders wanted to help the youth learn more. But they need help. They can’t do it alone and knowing that they will soon be the next leaders of the congregation in San Rafael, they are very willing to undergo the training by YMC for Campus Ministry.

After our first meeting with the elders and the possible Campus Ministry Team, the partnership immediately went to action and the youth are thankful to be given the chance to undergo training which they know they could also echo and would be of help to their youth ministry. This they see will help them be as future leaders and will inspire them to deepen their relationship with the Lord. The youth leaders have been praying for this. They said they really wanted to be effective Christians in their field as students and have a part in God’s commission even if they are still young.

The team is composed of Gerymar (Gem), Marlon (Alon), Angel & Grace. This largest province of the Philippines posses large rainforests, mountain ranges, outstanding aquatic life, beautiful flowers, plants and an amazing wildlife.

But at the heart of Palawan, in Puerto Prinsesa, rises the new YMC Campus Ministry team eager to learn new things and pray for God’s guidance in witnessing in Palawan State University and to their other friends.

The team, composed of Eda, Liezel, Shera, Jeff, James and Panpan, recently had their first training module held in their home church in Brooke’s Point Gospel Hall. Facilitated by YMC, the training module tackled subjects like Knowing Yourself, Team Ministry, and Conflict Management. The lessons are the first part of the 1ST Book of the Discipleship Workbook YMC is developing.

Entitled “Facing The Mirror”, book 1 aims to let the team discover themselves in a perceptible level, accepting theirselves, knowing their status before God and to stabilize relationship with the team, the coordinators and with God.

The 2nd Module of Book 1:Facing the Mirror, will be held this June in Puerto Prinsesa as the team prepares to enter their battlefield.

God is truly amazing and continues to work so we should not stop praying. Let us hold hands in upholding the new campus ministry team in Puerto Prinsesa. The delegates were greeted immediately by the wonderful play of sloping terrain and mountains covering the venue for this year’s YMC PRO: Ministry in the Workplace Retreat – Conference.

Everybody had fun describing themselves, their work, and just saying anything they want to say. Brother Raffy Sison of Wycliffe Translators, himself an Aeronautical Engineer and System Analyst in the US before he came to the Philippines to do mission work, reminded us that Spirituality in the Workplace is being in tune with God in anything that we do. Spirituality is not a thing to be done only in church but is the testimony we live, even if we don’t talk, in our own field. Wherever we work or whatever it is we do daily. Spirituality still happens even after we come out of our house.

Everybody came to know themselves in the workplace and outside during our “kapihan session” the first night. No one wanted to end the group sessions. We hear laughter, some even cried over overflowing service of coffee while sharing to the group answering the prepared questions. We were able to open out things about our workplace, our attitude towards our work, and even face the real us during this time. This definitely created a bond among the delegates.

Workshops were a wake up call for each one of us. We came face to face with terms like “Chronic Busyness”, & “Crushing Boredom”, and quoting from Karl Marx, we were all reminded that ‘Work is Pleasurable”. Delegates were asked to go into groups and talk among themselves & report to everyone “What would you do to make your work less of a burden to you.” We learned a lot from each other. Some said that “once a week, we will go to a friend for sharing,” funny yet practical strategy given is “Go & Buy a Planner!” and other serious plans were “to Consider God as your boss!” Isn’t that great?! There was also a lecture about ways to reach out to your battlefield wherever you may be working. Practical reminders and approaches were shared. Things that everyone will always remember to do and could be a part of developing their character at work.

There is, of course, lots of time also for recreation and bonding with each other. Everyone was laughing and challenged during the Team Building activity where teams had to climb the strolling hills, fill bottles with waters, and crawl under hairy vines to collect chicken eggs, as such. And of course, we all went swimming together with some of the kids since some brought their families with them.

The outdoor dinner was very special for us. Imagine dining with the mountains at your back and experiencing its fresh smell. Groups were formed that will help the ministries of ECPM and YMC. The groups formed are the Prayer Network (PN) Group, Development Projects, and Trainors / Teaching Group. They all submitted proposals on how to help ECPM. Please help us pray for these proposed projects.

Overall, everyone had time knowing each other more. Different people with different work backgrounds like nurse, teachers, businessmen & women, computer geniuses, and even counselors, to name as such, had a fun time laughing, eating and really pouring their hearts out during the kapihan and amazingly during the Forum. We spent time, sharing and helping each other. More so, we even explored Daranak Falls before we all head home.

Please help us pray for the people in the workplace. That they may see that God gave their work not just for stability but to use it even more for His Glory. May everyone be reminded that GOD GIVES US PURPOSE, GOD GIVES US REST, and to WORK LIKE WORKING FOR GOD. (R. Magpayo) and that “God’s Favor is not only seen in financial prosperity but in inner peace.”(R.Sison)

Please explore this site. All are amazing and unexpected. We at ECPM and YMC are praying that the Lord enable us to grasp only what we can handle and that of which we could give quality.

God might be giving us visions and big pictures but we have to work out the details.
